Pumpkins and Schoolbuses

Today we had a breakthrough with Lily's speech. Lily hasn't been talking. While a lot of children will begin repeating words they hear right away, some wait, sometimes for months. Lily is a waiter. She's taking it all in and understands so much, but hasn't wanted to speak. Well today when we pulled into her brother's preschool, she looked out the window at the pumpkin patch, pointed, and said "pumpka"!!!! Then when we pulled out, she said it again. At Target when we walked by the Halloween display, I heard it again!!! It was so exciting to hear her cute little voice!

Every time we drove by a school bus, she points and says "uh" to get my attention so I will say 'school bus'. This afternoon, we drove by a bus, and she pointed and said "school bus--s--s" (she adds on a few extra s's for good measure!) She did it a couple of times this afternoon!

This evening, I was able to get her to say pumpkin again for daddy, which was great, as she's still reserved around Ruben. I wanted him to hear how cute she sounds.

I'm hoping that this is a breakthrough, and we'll start hearing more and more words from her. I know it will take a while, but it will be fun to be able to have actual conversations with our little girl.

  1. Yeah!!! Who needs teeth to talk?! She is doing quite well without them.

    Very exciting!
