A Good Day

We woke up Thursday to gray skies and thunder. Fortunately the the rain held off as we were scheduled to see Elephant Lake. The lake is supposed to be in the shape of an elephant.....thus the name. It's a lovely area to walk with beautiful weeping willows lining the walkways. It was again, very hot, but with a nice breeze. Unfortunately for me, Lily wanted to be carried most of the way (the sidewalks weren't good for strollers), which made it a little uncomfortable. The boys, however, had a good time running up and down the pathways, and "talking" to the locals.

Lily's morning picture (Amanda....notice the bow?? Thanks so much...they're my favorites!)

At the Lake with our guide Coby. Notice how Lily is looking away? She does that every time daddy points a camera at her!
These guys are excellent musicians. The man on the flute is 79 years old! They were actually playing Auld Lang Syne!
This family lives along the lake and has a little "snack shack". Their 1 month old baby is sleeping outside, while their other kids ran around checking us out.
See how she's looking away??!!

Michael's favorite part was carrying and playing with the umbrella.
Me with my daughter. Can you tell Ruben took the picture?

That evening, we went to the yummy restaurant down the street. Michael was having a really hard time waking up from his nap.
Alex, on the other hand, was entertaining the employees!

Mid afternoon while Tyler and Michael were napping, Alex was entertaining his little sister.

Lily had her best day so far! We see her smiling more and more, and also talking more. For nap time, Lily and Alex laid on the same bed and played for awhile. Once she got tired, she whimpered a little, but when we held her and put her back down, she fell asleep for almost an hour.
Bed time was great. This was the first night that she didn't cry at all! Once I put her down, she got back up, walked to the snack table, and pointed to the snacks that she brought with her from the orphanage. After a small snack and drink, she went back to bed, rolled on her side, and fell asleep! I know we'll still have some tough times, but it's so good to see that she's getting more comfortable with us.

  1. I did notice all the bows that little miss lily is wearing! I'm so glad that you (& Lily) like them! :-)

I've really enjoyed following your journey and your family is continually in my thoughts and prayers!
